Welcome to Resilience House - the place where new standards for resilience and sustainability are set. Resilience House was inaugurated in 2017 when Vejle was named by The Rockefeller Foundation as one of the world's 100 Resilient Cities.
A groundbreaking office building
Resilience House is a unique building that marks Vejle's position as a model city for a more resilient future. In 2018, the building was recognized as Europe's most sustainable building, powered entirely by heat pumps. Here you will find inspiring meeting rooms, offices and common areas.
Reusability in every room
Every room in Resilience House contains at least one product with recyclable elements - from meeting tables made from old church beams to lamps made from recycled glass.
The Spanish Steps
One of the most striking features of Resilience House is the Spanish Steps that stretch from plinth to roof, creating a unique living space along the building's façade. From each floor there is direct access to the staircase where tenants can meet and enjoy the sunshine.
The staircase also serves as a drainage system for large amounts of rainwater, feeding the green flower pots on the way down before the rainwater eventually ends up in the surrounding lake. The roof is covered in sedum, which absorbs up to 50% of the rainwater and relieves the sewage system, while excess water is diverted to a basin that stands majestically at the top of the stairs.
